Parting is such sweet sorrow

Please don't laugh at me!! I was sitting around the other day with nothing to do, so I decided to go back and skim through all of my old half-finished fanfics, and I came across one that was basically Romeo and Juliet. See, couple of years ago we were reading it in English, so I got this idea that hey! I could re-write the play with Mario characters! Yyyyeah, don't ask Anyway reading the beginning of that again made me want to draw stuff from Romeo and Juliet, with Mario characters. So here's the product.

The balcony scene after the party where they first meet; he has to leave and so they're kissing goodbye (I think he was supposed to have climbed up on vines but... damnit I can't draw that!) The costume design was fun, I love Mario's dublet lol

Please disregard the lameness of the idea and instead pay attention to.... uh... the background! There is one again! Well sort of... Um.... yeah. At least it's not blank in back, right?
